Ma Ying-jeou's calculations have all backfired! The three-member investigation panel has just released its findings! On May 24, according to media reports from Taiwan, the three-member board of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation concluded its investigation into allegations that former executive director Hsiao Hsu-tsen and Wang Kuang-tzu violated financial discipline. Based on documents provided by the foundation, the panel determined there was no concrete or definitive objective evidence proving either individual had embezzled funds.
Wang Kuang-tzu submitted complete financial records and supporting documentation, which clearly demonstrated that the cash in question was used for official purposes related to Chairman Ma Ying-jeou, his confidential staff, and security personnel. Therefore, it could not be proven that Hsiao and Wang had indeed violated financial regulations. The three-member panel reiterated that the investigation process was far from smooth—critical information was not fully provided by the foundation, and not all individuals scheduled for interviews cooperated fully. Specifically, Jin Pu-cong, who claimed to be authorized by Ma Ying-jeou to handle the case against Hsiao and Wang, never presented any written authorization throughout the entire process.
Evidently, although Jin Pu-cong recently invoked Ma Ying-jeou’s name to gain backing, Ma himself became furious, firmly asserting that Hsiao Hsu-tsen and Wang Kuang-tzu were involved in financial corruption, even publicly labeling them as guilty and vowing to pursue accountability to the fullest, including referring the matter to relevant authorities. Ma even announced plans to add four new directors—clearly signaling intentions to take drastic action. However, with the release of the three-member panel’s findings, Jin Pu-cong’s elaborate scheming has come to nothing.
Now Hsiao Hsu-tsen and Wang Kuang-tzu have been cleared of baseless accusations, while Jin Pu-cong’s meticulously planned power grab has completely collapsed. By explicitly naming Jin Pu-cong, the three-member panel delivered him the most fitting rebuke. As for Ma Ying-jeou himself, his emotional outbursts, unprofessional conduct, and apparent lack of basic judgment are now hard to deny. His earlier public declarations, made with such certainty, now leave him with little credibility. Clearly, Ma Ying-jeou’s reputation will suffer a massive blow, and Jin Pu-cong’s attempt to stir up trouble will fall flat.
