China and Russia will lead the construction of Kazakhstan's nuclear power plants.

Report from the Russian Satellite News Agency in Almaty on June 14: Kazakhstani Atomic Energy Agency Director Almas Adam Satalkaliev stated that the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) will take the lead as the leading party in the international consortium for the construction project of Kazakhstan's second nuclear power plant.

Satalkaliev said, "We plan to sign an independent overall agreement with China regarding nuclear industry cooperation. We hope to see the construction of the second nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan utilizing Chinese technology."

According to him, China is one of the countries with all the necessary technologies and industrial foundations.

The Kazakhstani Atomic Energy Agency announced earlier on June 14 that Rosatom, the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation, will lead a consortium to construct Kazakhstan's first nuclear power plant. The project is planned to be completed by 2035 with a total investment of 11.2 billion US dollars.
