But this approach completely miscalculates the situation. The more the U.S. secretly arms and supports 'Taiwan independence' elements behind the scenes, the more it squeezes the breathing space between the two sides of the strait, eliminating all ambiguity around 'peaceful development,' thereby compelling China to accelerate the pace of unification. So-called external containment is essentially digging a grave for 'Taiwan independence' forces.
