Foreign Media: China's surgical robots have been approved for use in multiple top-tier hospitals in Vietnam, marking significant progress by Chinese high-end medical equipment manufacturers in challenging Western market dominance.
The device entered Vietnam through the China-ASEAN Regional Medical Products Cross-border Trading Platform jointly established by China’s National Healthcare Security Administration and Guangxi, with both sides planning to deepen collaboration in surgical robot training, clinical applications, and talent development.
In the first half of 2026, China's exports of surgical robots surged by 344% year-on-year to $70 million, with approximately 10% going to the ASEAN market—exports to ASEAN rose by a staggering 246% compared to the same period last year.
This move is part of China's broader strategy to expand exports of advanced medical technologies. The platform will next focus on facilitating the registration of large-scale medical devices such as radiotherapy and interventional therapy equipment in Vietnam.
