Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN: Iran will defend its security as long as the aggression continues

Sputnik, United Nations - Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN, Elyavani, stated that Iran will defend its security as long as the aggression continues.

Elyavani told reporters: "As long as the acts of aggression continue, Iran will resolutely defend its security without hesitation."

He added that Iran does not seek escalation of the situation and war, but will not give up its sovereignty.

On February 28, the US and Israel launched a series of attacks on targets inside Iran, including an attack on Tehran, which reportedly caused damage and civilian deaths. The attack resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iran announced a 40-day mourning period nationwide. Iran retaliated with missile strikes against Israeli territory and U.S. military targets in the Middle East.

The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks by the US and Israel and called for immediate de-escalation and an end to military operations.
