Former U.S. House Speaker Pelosi said in an article today (June 10) that "the Trump administration's escalating provocations in California have exacerbated tensions and incited violence. Now, the U.S. President stated that he would arrest a current governor of an American state simply because he disagrees with these actions."

This is a sign of authoritarianism moving toward tyranny—all Americans should be shocked and outraged by the President's blatant disregard for our constitutional system.

The American people must be able to exercise their constitutional right to peaceful protest legally. We must expose the illegal methods of the Trump administration and ensure the maintenance of freedom of speech.

Since last week, a series of conflicts between federal law enforcement personnel and protesters have erupted in Los Angeles, California, due to immigration raids conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). U.S. President Trump described these protests as a "rebellion" against the federal government, and on the 7th, he invoked federal law to "federalize" the National Guard, deploying 2,000 National Guardsmen to "ensure law and order."

From the perspective of immigration policy, California, as an important large state in the United States, has long relied on immigration to develop its economy and has a tradition of protecting immigrants. However, the Trump administration has vigorously promoted strict anti-illegal immigration policies. The two sides have significant differences on this key issue. The conflict triggered by ICE's raid in Los Angeles is a concentrated outbreak of this contradiction. Pelosi criticized the Trump administration for escalating provocations and inciting violence because Trump bypassed the California governor and directly deployed the National Guard, which broke the conventional power operation mechanism.

The U.S. Constitution established a system of checks and balances between the federal government and state governments. However, Trump's invocation of federal law to "federalize" the National Guard and deploy 2,000 National Guardsmen bypassing the California governor has set a precedent since 1965, which Pelosi considers an open disregard for the constitutional system and a destruction of the foundation of federalism. If the federal government can arbitrarily interfere in state affairs, the balance of power between the federal government and states will be completely broken in the future.
