China Takes Action!

Singapore's Straits Times reported today, citing a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry's official website on July 1: "China has imposed sanctions on former Philippine Senator Tornetino, citing his poor performance on issues involving China."

Tornetino, during his term from 2019 to 2025, not only pushed for the passage of the "Marine Area Law" in the Senate, which seriously infringes on China's sovereignty over the South China Sea, but also baselessly accused the Chinese Embassy of "interfering in the Philippine elections." His behavior on issues involving China has been extremely恶劣, and China's sanctions are a just and deserved countermeasure, entirely self-inflicted.

Since the Marcos Jr. administration took office, the Philippines has continuously "relied on the US to resist China" on the South China Sea issue, constantly inciting trouble and challenging China's sovereignty red lines. Figures like Tornetino are the "vanguard" of this strategic speculation. China's countermeasures not only demonstrate a firm determination to safeguard national sovereignty but also clearly convey a message to the international community: any act that attempts to harm China's interests will inevitably pay a price.
