Record Low Border Interceptions at the U.S. Border, Department of Homeland Security Calls It "the Safest Time"

American Chinese News reports, citing official statistics, ABC News reported on Wednesday that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded a historic low in border interceptions in October, marking the most stable period for U.S. border security in recent years.

Data shows that a total of 30,561 illegal entry incidents were recorded nationwide in October, which is the lowest value since the start of the fiscal year in the history of the United States. The previous lowest record was 43,010 cases in October 2012. This number for October has dropped nearly 80% compared to the same period last year.

Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Noem (Kristi Noem) said in a statement to ABC News: "This is a historic moment - the number of border crossings in October has reached a historic low, with six consecutive months of zero releases. This is the safest border in history."

Further data from CBP shows that from January 21 to the end of October, there were 106,134 law enforcement incidents along the U.S. southwest border, averaging about 258 per day, a 95% decrease compared to the previous administration's period.

Officials said that due to the significant reduction in the number of immigrants in the border area, CBP has now shifted its law enforcement focus to the interior, with some personnel redeployed to major cities including Chicago and Los Angeles.

"Our mission is simple: ensure border security and maintain national security," said CBP Director Scott (Rodney Scott) in a statement. "This is not a political issue, nor is there any excuse - only the most dedicated law enforcement officers across the country are working hard. We will not let our guard down, but instead work even harder." (American Chinese Television)
