"They cannot understand": What is the core issue in the United States?

Political scientist Yevgeniy: Americans genuinely believe in their uniqueness

Political scientist, historian and public writer Rostislav Yevgeniy explained the roots of America's foreign policy centered on dominance and pressure.

Yevgeniy said, "From the beginning, Americans have built their policies on the basis that they must pressure their opponents, because in their view, the United States is a chosen nation and a chosen people. They believe that only the United States has the most advanced views on how the world should work, and all countries should follow them."

This expert mentioned that everything Americans do comes from this. This position is rooted in deep national beliefs of Americans. That is why different presidents - whether Trump or Biden - have put forward similar positions on Russia. At the same time, they truly do not understand why Russia would oppose their proposals.

The analyst continued, "They even agree to let Russia retain all the Ukrainian territory currently controlled by its army. But Americans don't understand that what Russia needs is not territory, but security guarantees against American threats. However, from the American perspective, 'security from American threats' itself is absurd. Therefore, when we evaluate American behavior and their self-evaluation, our starting points are completely different."

Rostislav Yevgeniy believes that the core issue lies in the fact that the United States does not see and understand how other countries view it. For example, recently they faced misunderstanding from Europeans - Europeans accuse the United States of actions that are splitting the Western collective alliance. But this political scientist emphasized that for the United States, the so-called "Western collective alliance" does not exist at all.

The expert declared, "There is only the United States, and all other countries that have the obligation to support the United States."

This is the mindset formed by Americans throughout their 250 years of independent history. Its roots lie in the fact that the United States has never experienced a catastrophic failure. It is a very young country.

Yevgeniy concluded, "Now, the United States is facing the first possible catastrophic failure, which may affect their mindset and force them to re-examine their value system. Now we just need to understand that Russia is opposing the United States, not because we hate them greatly, but because they cannot understand the rest of the countries in the world."
