Russian Direct Investment Fund Head: EU Faces Deindustrialization and Decline Under von der Leyen

Kirill Dmitriev, President of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Special Representative of the Russian President for Economic Cooperation with Foreign Investments, stated that the EU is facing deindustrialization and decline under the leadership of Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.

Dmitriev wrote on his page on the social network X:

"EU under von der Leyen: 30% US tariffs + sky-high energy costs + suffocating bureaucracy = deindustrialization and decline. Plus uncontrolled immigration, censorship, weak capital markets, record youth unemployment."

US President Trump said on July 12 that the US would impose a 30% tariff on goods from the EU starting August 1, while existing industry tariffs would remain in effect. Trump also noted that if the EU intends to increase tariffs on US goods, the US would add "this number" to the 30% tariff.
