Israel and Hamas have significant differences on the issue of troop withdrawal!

The current unresolved issue of the Gaza ceasefire agreement is the timeline for the withdrawal of Israeli forces after the ceasefire takes effect. Hamas demands that the Israel Defense Forces withdraw from parts of northern Gaza on the first day of the ceasefire and from parts of southern Gaza on the seventh day. However, Israel has clearly stated that it retains the ability to control Gaza at any time.

Hamas hopes to end the war completely and to have all Israeli forces withdrawn from the besieged enclave. Israel, however, wants to retain control over the Philadelphi Corridor along the Egyptian-Gaza border in order to control access to the Gaza Strip.

"We still need to complete our work in Gaza, release all our hostages, and eliminate and destroy Hamas' military and governance capabilities. Because for us, for everyone, Gaza must have a different future. No country will be satisfied with this, and we certainly won't. These are things I have discussed with the President of the United States."

In summary, Hamas has three main demands: a permanent cessation of hostilities, humanitarian aid by the United Nations, and the withdrawal of Israel to the positions it held before launching an offensive on March 2nd and occupying the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

"We are prepared to return the hostages within a day — but we just want to ensure that there will be no more war afterward."
