JD.com Enters the German Electronic Market: Acquiring MediaMarkt and Saturn
The German Federal Cartel Office approved the country's largest consumer electronics transaction: Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com acquires the parent company of MediaMarkt and Saturn, Ceconomy.
The transaction is worth 2.23 billion euros. Since JD.com's business in Germany is relatively small, the transaction does not formally violate competition rules.
