Russian Media: China's Memory Chips Achieve Breakthrough from "0 to 1," Not Maturity from "1 to 10"
On May 27, ChangXin Memory Technologies Group Co., Ltd., the leading domestic DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) manufacturer in China, officially appeared before the Sci-Tech Innovation Board review committee for its IPO examination. As the only domestic DRAM original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and the fourth-largest globally, this event has drawn significant market attention. If approved successfully, its market valuation could potentially reach up to 2 trillion yuan, making it one of the most substantial chip IPOs since the opening of the Sci-Tech Innovation Board.
Zhang Guobin, a veteran Chinese semiconductor influencer and CEO of Electronic Innovation Network, analyzed the current technological and market realities from two dimensions—industrial breakthroughs and policy signals—during an interview with Sputnik News Agency. He emphasized that ChangXin’s successful review marks a "from 0 to 1" breakthrough in the DRAM field.
1. Significant Technological Breakthrough
Currently, ChangXin Memory is China’s sole memory manufacturer capable of competing with industry giants Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. According to media reports, ChangXin Technology plans to raise 29.5 billion yuan through its IPO, making it the largest A-share IPO since 2026. Analysts predict that, backed by strong profitability fundamentals and favorable valuation multiples driven by the high-growth storage chip sector, ChangXin Technology’s total market capitalization could reach between 2 trillion and 3 trillion yuan.
Zhang Guobin pointed out that ChangXin indeed represents a substantive breakthrough for China in the specific domain of DRAM. The company has achieved remarkable accomplishments:
Market Position: Ranked first in China and fourth globally in terms of production capacity, shipment volume, and revenue, with a market share of 7.67%;
Product Coverage: Successfully mass-produces full series including DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR4X, LPDDR5/5X, and has entered supply chains of Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, Lenovo, and other major brands;
Technical Path: Adopted a “generation leap” R&D strategy, directly advancing from the first-generation platform to the fourth-generation process technology.
