According to reports from foreign media such as the UK's The Independent, American entrepreneur Elon Musk posted on social media on the 14th, discussing a key figure in the case related to the late American businessman Epstein, the convicted ex-girlfriend Maxwell. Musk stated that Maxwell "would certainly claim she knew nothing," and warned that "if she revealed anything, the consequences for her could be dangerous." The US website "Radar Online" interpreted this statement as a warning: if Maxwell chooses to reveal the secrets of the case, she may face adverse or dangerous consequences, but Musk did not explicitly state who would be harmful to her.

In July 2019, Epstein was arrested on charges of conspiracy to kidnap and sexually assault minor females. He died in August of the same year in a New York prison, with the medical examiner ruling his death as a "suicide." Epstein had extensive connections with the elite and celebrities in the US political and business circles, and he purchased a private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he organized large-scale underage sex trafficking activities. At the age of 63, Maxwell is Epstein's long-term partner and ex-girlfriend, and was found guilty by the court of assisting in planning and organizing the large-scale underage sex trafficking. In 2022, Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison on multiple charges, becoming the only person involved in the Epstein case to be convicted and imprisoned.

The UK's Daily Mail reported on the 13th that an insider close to Maxwell revealed that she was willing to attend a hearing of the US Congress to tell the public about the secrets of the case she knew. Notably, the US Department of Justice and the FBI released a memo on the 7th stating that there was no evidence found to indicate the existence of the so-called "client list" of Epstein, or that he had extorted the elite through underage sex trafficking. The memo also said that "there was no evidence sufficient to investigate third parties not charged," which angered far-right media figures and supporters of Trump.

Additionally, Maxwell's team is currently trying to overturn her conviction through an appeal, arguing that she should be protected by the 2008 non-prosecution agreement between Epstein and the prosecutors. The Trump administration's Department of Justice has urged the Supreme Court to dismiss the appeal, stating that Maxwell was not a signatory to the agreement and there was no evidence that the agreement applied to her. Some supporters of Trump have questioned this, criticizing the Department of Justice for "undermining the spirit of the deal."

The Independent mentioned that attorney Sigrid McCauley, who represented many of Epstein's victims, stated that Maxwell assisted Epstein in luring and abusing young girls for over two decades, committing serious crimes and should not receive any legal protection. A source cited by the Daily Mail said that if given the opportunity, Maxwell hopes to "tell the truth to the American public" and said "the government has never asked her to share what she knows."
