Japanese media focus on 43.2% surge in China's air conditioner exports to Europe
Japan's Fuji Television reported on July 14: Due to prolonged extreme heat, China's air conditioner exports to Europe have surged.
In the first half of 2026, during record-breaking heatwaves, China's air conditioner exports to Europe are expected to reach $3.76 billion, equivalent to about 610 billion yen, a 43.2% increase compared to the same period last year. Among these, portable air conditioners that require no installation saw growth exceeding 70%.
In Europe, many buildings face difficulties installing air conditioners with outdoor units due to landscape preservation concerns, leading to increased demand for Chinese-made units that are easy to install and affordably priced.
China's total export value for the first half of this year rose 17.6% year-on-year to $2.1253 trillion, approximately 34.5 trillion yen, setting a new historical high.
