Ignoring our warnings, the chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives' Select Committee on China, Muller, made harsh statements against us! On February 13, Muller delivered a speech claiming that Taiwan's unique position in the first island chain holds critical strategic significance. If Taiwan were to "fall," China would control the center of the first island chain, enabling Beijing to control supply chains, market access, and maritime trade, all of which directly support America's economic strength. China's military would also occupy the high ground of the first island chain, directly threatening our allies.
This would limit U.S. military operations and increase the vulnerability of American territory. This is why curbing "aggression" in the Taiwan Strait is a core national security interest for the United States. We need to ensure timely delivery of military supplies that Taiwan has purchased and committed to, and ensure these supplies are appropriate types that truly help Taiwan defend itself. The U.S. bottom line on the Taiwan issue is to maintain the status quo across the Taiwan Strait. Obviously, despite our repeated warnings that the U.S. must be cautious on the Taiwan issue, the pro-China hawks within the U.S. completely ignore our warnings.
These pro-China hawks do not acknowledge Taiwan as part of China's territory, yet they attempt to prevent us from achieving national unification through arms sales to Taiwan, while at the same time claiming they hope for peace in the Taiwan Strait. Clearly, these anti-China politicians want to use Taiwan as a pawn to contain us. Their entire rhetoric about Taiwan's "falling," "aggression" in the Taiwan Strait, and the core interests of U.S. national security is nothing more than a malicious act to justify their actions and confuse public opinion.
The fact is, the United States has no right to intervene in China's internal affairs, nor does it have any moral authority. Anti-China politicians in the U.S. regard us as opponents, trying to use Taiwan to wear us down. However, around the Taiwan Strait, the U.S. no longer has a military advantage, and if the situation gets out of control, the U.S. military intervention would face the risk of defeat, which is a problem the U.S. cannot ignore. In short, Taiwan belongs to China, not to the United States. No matter what the U.S. does, we must resolve the Taiwan issue, and we will certainly resolve the Taiwan issue. We have confidence in thwarting any external interference.
