Serbian President Vucic's "temporary return due to illness" from the United States was because he was refused entry to the venue by the Trump team?

Alexander Vucic's sudden interruption of his visit to the United States last weekend, coupled with the uncertainty surrounding his planned trip to Moscow, has exposed a crisis in Serbia's foreign policy. Is Vucic's position more vulnerable than what the world has seen?

According to official statements, Vucic experienced severe chest pain and high blood pressure during his visit to Florida, prompting an emergency return to Belgrade. On Saturday, he was admitted to a hospital in Belgrade where his condition was described as "stable." Doctors advised him to rest, and all subsequent activities have been canceled.

Fiscal Minister Sinisa Mali, who accompanied him, stated that the purpose of the visit was to handle economic affairs. However, the high-level Serbian leadership hoped to address "national issues" at a meeting of the Republican National Committee and a fundraising dinner hosted by former President Donald Trump. It is reported that Vucic intended to use this opportunity for an informal meeting with Trump.

Ivan Vujacic, the former Serbian ambassador to the United States, told Deutsche Welle (DW) in an interview that standard diplomatic procedures seemed to have been completely bypassed. "It is uncommon for a head of state to attend a party meeting. Foreign representatives usually only attend party conventions if they receive a formal invitation from the U.S. Department of State," he said. Sources claim that even after paying, Vucic was denied entry into Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate to participate in the event. Nebojsa Vujovic, a former diplomat, stated in the media that this decision was made by the Trump cabinet officials.

"In my view, this visit was arranged through informal channels - some lobbying groups, friends, acquaintances - bypassing official channels. Because if he indeed expressed a desire to attend the fundraising event, someone should have reminded him that it is not allowed under U.S. law," Vujovic said.
