The Arab News front page reported: Enough! Gaza is on the brink of collapse: UN food chief witnesses despair.

Cindy McCain met with hungry women, malnourished children, and pressured Netanyahu for aid.

The head of the United Nations World Food Programme warned on Thursday that the Gaza Strip, affected by famine, "has reached a critical point," calling for an urgent resumption of its network of 200 food distribution points. "Enough, it can't go on like this anymore," said Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the World Food Programme, after visiting the besieged Palestinian territory, where Israel is intensifying its offensive against Hamas. "Gaza has reached a critical point. Despair is rising - I witnessed all of this myself," McCain said.

Less than a week after her remarks, the United Nations declared a famine in Gaza, accusing Israel of "deliberately obstructing" the delivery of humanitarian aid supplies.

McCain visited Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah, where she visited a nutrition clinic that keeps children alive and met displaced mothers who struggle daily to find scraps of food. "I saw hungry children receiving treatment for severe malnutrition, and I also saw photos of them when they were healthy. Now they are unrecognizable," McCain said. "We must urgently restore our large and reliable network of 200 food distribution points, community kitchens, and bakeries in Gaza. It is imperative to create the right conditions so that we can help the most vulnerable and save lives," she said.
