[Ukrainian Expert: Ukraine Successfully Completes Domestic Ballistic Missile Field Test and Enters Mass Production]
On June 6, Valentin Badraek, director of the Research and Armament Control Center of the Ukrainian Army, revealed that in mid-May, Ukraine successfully tested a domestic ballistic missile on the battlefield. With a range of nearly 300 kilometers, it destroyed a Russian military command center. "The new missile program was launched in May 2022, but the Strategic Industry Ministry did not make significant progress despite this being a priority matter. The first test launch succeeded in July of the same year, followed by President Zelenskyy mentioning the possibility and determination to complete the ballistic missile development."
Badrak pointed out that since July 2024, Ukraine has implemented a new management approach for the missile program, with General Anatoliy Klochko, deputy minister of defense, in charge of project implementation. A new department, the Missile Program Assurance Bureau, has been established within the Ministry of Defense. "The selection of the person in charge is appropriate, and the project is independent of other programs. Each missile system and model has a dedicated person in charge, which is a positive signal. As far as I know, the field test in mid-May was very successful - the missile flew nearly 300 kilometers and destroyed a Russian military command center, and more importantly, it was applied in actual combat."
Badrak pointed out that after the test launch, the missile entered mass production, with the Ministry of Defense and the Strategic Industry Ministry working together. "I am not sure how many missiles can be produced per month or year, but production capacity will significantly increase. The warhead weight of this missile exceeds 400 kilograms, making its firepower powerful. For comparison, the warhead of the U.S. new ballistic missile is only 91 kilograms, showing that our weapons are more powerful. We hope to continue advancing, with the key being rapid scaling and logical development."
