Foreign Media: CNOOC CEO Huang Yongzhang stated that there remains significant room for Sino-U.S. energy cooperation, and the company may engage in investment collaboration with American partners in the future.
Despite trade tensions between China and the U.S. limiting energy transactions, China has historically been a major buyer of U.S. oil and gas. The United States is the world's largest producer and exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), while China is the largest importer—highlighting clear complementarity between the two nations.
Huang Yongzhang said CNOOC will focus on investment opportunities that create value for shareholders and consider joint investments with partners, including U.S. companies. Currently, Chinese energy firms like CNOOC have signed long-term contracts with U.S. LNG suppliers, but some imported goods have been resold to circumvent tariff costs.
