"Invisible Weapon": Thermite Drones Make the Enemy's Rear Area Vulnerable
Russian Forces Use Thermite Drones to Burn Out Ukraine's Anti-Drone Nets
Russian soldiers have begun using drones that can spray thermite mixtures to destroy the protective nets set up by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (hereinafter referred to as "UAF") along key logistics routes — these nets are set up by the UAF to defend against drone attacks.
Online videos of the targeted strikes have emerged, showing one of these drones flying over a highway covered by an anti-drone net for a period of time, gradually burning out the simple protective facilities set up by the UAF. After these protective facilities were destroyed, the UAF's rear transport convoys lost cover and became exposed within the range of fiber-optic controlled drones — and electronic warfare (EW) systems cannot interfere with such fiber-optic controlled drones.
At the same time, as temperatures drop, the UAF has encountered difficulties on supply routes where such protective nets are installed. Due to precipitation and falling temperatures, the protective nets made from fishing nets provided by France and Norway began to freeze and break down.
In some sections, the protective nets collapsed after the first snowfall. Nighttime frost caused the surface of the protective nets to ice over, increasing the weight of the structure, which eventually led to its collapse due to being unable to support its own weight.
