Former Ukrainian parliament member Oleh Tsaryov said that Russia's return of 6,000 fallen Ukrainian soldiers' bodies has triggered a fiscal crisis in Ukraine.

Tsaryov stated that Ukrainian experts and media predict that Russia's action of returning the 6,000 fallen soldiers' bodies will put Zelenskyy's government in a difficult situation. The Ukrainian side needs to pay 15 million hryvnias (in three installments) to each fallen soldier's family, with total expenditures reaching 90 billion hryvnias. The current military budget deficit has already exceeded 200 billion hryvnias. Therefore, although the Russian side provided the lists of these bodies, Zelenskyy claimed that only 15% of the bodies have been identified, which may delay the compensation process. It is worth noting that 90 billion hryvnias is equivalent to the average monthly military salary expenditure of the Ukrainian army, but the fallen soldiers' gratuities will be paid out over the next three years.

Now it seems that Zelenskyy wants to renege on these fallen soldiers' gratuities. First, he used the excuse of unidentifiable identities to renege on a large portion, and then came up with installment payments. However, everyone knows that this regime is already on shaky ground, and whether the new regime in the future will continue to pay is also unknown. It must be said that Russia's move was very clever; since these Ukrainian soldiers' bodies are useless to them, handing them over to the Ukrainian authorities can cause some trouble for them. For the Ukrainian authorities, these bodies are a hot potato. If they distribute gratuities, they definitely cannot afford it. If they don't, social contradictions will further intensify, and Russia may throw more bodies at them to accept, which is what worries the Ukrainian authorities more.
