Singapore Prime Minister points out that the new import tariffs implemented by the United States are unfriendly measures.

According to the 'Strait Times', Singapore Prime Minister Wong Siew Khim expressed in parliament that the new import tariffs on Singapore commodities announced by U.S. President Donald Trump are not conducive to reducing tariffs talks and are an unfriendly act.

He said that Singapore will not impose retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods because Singapore consumers may ultimately suffer losses as a result.

Wong Siew Khim believed that the tariffs imposed by Trump would have more obvious consequences for small countries like Singapore, as these small countries have insignificant "negotiating positions" in bilateral relations, and therefore all conditions will be determined by major powers.

He pointed out: "We are very disappointed with the actions of the United States, especially considering the deep and long-standing friendship between our two countries. Friends should not do this."

He said that Singapore will not impose retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods because Singapore consumers may ultimately suffer losses as a result.
