[Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Proposes Using Ukrainian Territory as a Testing Ground for Military Products]

On April 8, RBC-Ukraine reported that Valeriy Churkin, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, called for closer and long-term cooperation in the defense sector during the Estonia-Ukraine Defense Industry Forum held in Kyiv. He specifically proposed using Ukrainian territory as a testing ground for foreign military products in real combat environments.

Churkin emphasized, "Estonia is a true friend of our country, and we should strengthen industrial cooperation. The opportunities provided by Ukraine to international partners include testing products in real combat environments and developing long-term cooperative relationships within joint ventures."

He also pointed out key areas where the Ukrainian Armed Forces need support. The first is counter-drone technology, as well as modernizing existing weapons currently in use on the front lines. The deputy minister expressed gratitude to Estonia for its regular support since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Hannu Pevkurl, Estonian Minister of Defense, said he hoped the forum would become an effective platform to create new opportunities for both parties in joint defense production and technical exchanges. He stated, "Estonia is ready to share its experience in information technology and digital transformation with Ukraine."

In addition to Churkin and Pevkurl, participants in this forum included Herman Semetanin, Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Arsen Zhumatylov, Director of the Defense Procurement Agency, representatives from the industrial sectors of both countries, relevant officials, and experts.
