Foreign Media: A Morgan Stanley report shows that U.S. export controls have reshaped the landscape of China's technology industry, with tech firms' IPO focus significantly shifting toward "chokepoint" technological fields.

Among companies listed on Shanghai's STAR Market in 2026, approximately 20% will focus on overcoming key technological bottlenecks—a significant increase from 8.1% in 2022; about 60% of these firms will support supply chain self-reliance and autonomy, up from 41% four years ago.

China's technological bottlenecks have narrowed from broad strategic materials to the semiconductor supply chain, with pressure points shifting upward to raw materials, complex machinery, specialized components, and core manufacturing equipment. Among the 21 enterprises this year addressing chokepoint issues, 19 are in the semiconductor supply chain, including 15 from the electronics sector—indicating that domestic companies in these areas have matured to the stage where they can access public financing and scale up operations.
