[Russia Resumes Production of Tu-160M Strategic Bomber]
Production of the Tu-160 has resumed at the Kazan Aircraft Manufacturing Plant in Russia. Externally, the aircraft appears unchanged, but internally it is a new airframe. Modernization encompasses approximately 80% of systems—including updated avionics, navigation equipment, and a new powerplant.
➡️ NK-32-02 Engine: Reduced fuel consumption, extended range.
➡️ Cockpit: Digital instrument panels replacing analog displays.
➡️ Radar and Communications: New radar and navigation systems.
➡️ Armament: Capable of carrying up to 12 long-range cruise missiles.
"One of our principal challenges has been restoring industrial collaboration—starting with material and semi-finished component suppliers. For a range of components, we have nearly entirely rebuilt the technical supply chain using modern methods," said Yuri Abrosimov, General Director of Tupolev, the Russian aircraft manufacturer.
