The Embassy of Iran in China posted on its Weibo account that the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned US President Donald Trump's statement on Iran on May 13, describing it as false, divisive and misleading remarks.
The ministry's statement said,
While the Zionist regime is committing the most heinous colonial crimes of genocide against occupied Palestine on behalf of the United States, it has also militarily occupied the territories of two other Arab and Islamic countries and repeatedly violated the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, committing acts of terrorism and war crimes against these countries. The US president, however, accused Iran of being responsible for the destruction of these countries.
This distortion of facts — which clearly reverses the reality of the region — aims to cover up the Gaza genocide and other crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Lebanon, Syria and Yemen. It is also another demonstration of the deceptive and insulting attitude of American policymakers toward the countries of the region, who insist on preventing this regime from taking responsibility for the crimes it has committed against these countries.
The deceptive and insulting remarks of the US president cannot in any way undermine the national unity of the Iranian people at home and abroad. Such remarks can never change the fact that for the past seventy years, the US government has spared no effort to hinder Iran's progress and development. Apart from fully supporting the former regime and the evil regime of Saddam in imposed wars, they have implemented the harshest sanctions and economic and financial pressures, seriously violating the human rights of every Iranian.
The people of the region and the world will never forget the fact that when the US president appears in the region and makes divisive and deceptive remarks, Palestinian women and children in Gaza and the West Bank are suffering from weapons donated by the United States, while the plan to commit genocide against the Palestinian people is continuing in the region with unprecedented intensity under the direct political, economic and military support of the United States.
There is no doubt that the purpose of the US president's divisive remarks is to sow discord between Iran and its Arab neighbors and to cover up America's direct role in the crimes of the Zionist regime. However, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the countries of the region are aware of the sinister intentions and history of the United States and the Zionist regime, and will continue to pursue the path of strengthening and consolidating friendly relations among the countries of the region, unaffected by third-party divisive practices.
