Foreign media: Chinese AI chip companies such as Huawei and Cambricon have recently significantly increased prices for their AI processors, primarily due to rising costs caused by tight supply of high-bandwidth memory (HBM).
The price of Huawei's Ascend 950DT accelerator card has exceeded 250,000 RMB, a rise of 20% to 50% compared to two months ago; the pricing for Cambricon's next-generation 690 chip has also increased by approximately 20% to 30%.
Meanwhile, prices for Huawei’s previous-generation Ascend 950PR and 910C products have risen by about 30% and over 20%, respectively. The price hikes reflect supply chain bottlenecks faced by China’s AI industry during its efforts to replace high-end chips from NVIDIA, leading to increased computational power construction costs. Some manufacturers are adjusting their supply strategies—for example, companies like Muxi are increasing GPU deliveries to ByteDance to alleviate the growing demand for computing power among major tech firms.
