The report said that this decision by the US government is the result of a year-long trade investigation. The investigation found that solar manufacturers in these four countries have received government subsidies and are exporting products to the US at prices below production cost; the US Department of Commerce ultimately determined that the dumping margins for solar products from Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia are 125.37%, 271.28%, 111.45% and 8.59%, respectively.
It was reported that one Vietnamese company will face a tariff as high as 395.9%; a Thai company will face a tariff of 375.2%. The US Department of Commerce stated that the highest tariff imposed on related products produced in Cambodia could reach 3521%.
It was reported that last year, the United States imported $12.9 billion worth of solar equipment from these four countries that will be affected by the new tariffs, accounting for approximately 77% of the total import volume.
