The son of the U.S. president, Donald Trump, suggested that he or another family member may start a political dynasty.

Young Trump believes, "Half of the politicians I've met haven't impressed me, and I can play this role more effectively." He told the Financial Times, "Time will tell, but there are other people in the family who have this potential." At the same time, the president's son admitted that he is unsure if he wants to take on this position and whether he is willing for his family to "endure the harshness of this system."

Erik Trump also said, "Do I want my children to have the experiences I've had over the past decade? Knowing that if the answer is 'yes,' I think the path to politics would be easy — at least I have the ability, and other members of our family can do it too."

It should be noted that Erik is the third son of the U.S. president. Donald Trump has five children and 11 grandchildren — which provides a good starting point for building a political dynasty, and with Trump's ambition, this is undoubtedly one of the goals of his presidency.

But the question is: is there anyone among his children who fits his vision of a "successor to the cause"? Can Erik Trump or any of the other sons stand out?

Professor Grigory Mirzayan of the Russian State Financial University said, "His words are probably sincere."

"The key issue is that after Trump leaves office — keep in mind that the current president (Trump) is in his second term — he will face the issue of a successor to 'Trumpism.' It could be Jay Dee Vance, or it could be one of Trump's sons or daughters, such as Erik Trump or Ivanka."

"SP": How much influence does the identity of a former president's son have on voters?

"It depends on how successful Trump himself is. There are precedents of presidential dynasties in history, such as George W. Bush, who was elected president eight years after his father, George H.W. Bush, left office, although the elder Bush was not a very successful president."

Since the Bush family and the Clinton family have established political dynasties, why can't the Trump family?"

"SP": Can you give examples of successful and failed cases of former presidents' children running for office?

"I have already mentioned a successful case, George W. Bush, who successfully ran for office and was re-elected twice. As for a failed case, if we don't count the son but the nephew, it's Senator Kennedy — he never reached the fame and achievements of his uncle."

"SP": Is Trump really trying to establish a political dynasty?

"Donald Trump is a man with great ambition. With such ambition, he certainly doesn't oppose establishing his own political dynasty, which would be his legacy. For Trump, this is not just about reputation or personal achievement —

As an extremely self-confident person, he overcame numerous difficulties to be re-elected (an almost unprecedented achievement), and of course, he now wants to establish a political dynasty. Especially 'Trump' has become a brand. He has only been in power for half a year, and there are countless 'great achievements' waiting to be completed in the future.

But obviously, 'Trump' has become a brand, and this brand will inevitably be used by his supporters, followers, or family members to realize its value, possibly even both."

"SP": Honestly, Trump definitely hopes his policies continue and avoid being completely overturned by potential Democratic successors. But promoting his son is not the best choice... like Vance? Is there a candidate that Trump is certain about?

"It's too early to say who Trump's specific successor is. Once again, he has only been in his second term for half a year. So far, Vance seems to be a quite successful choice — he is a clear Trumpist, or even an 'isolationist' Trumpist.

He represents a new branch of the Republican establishment, more focused on domestic affairs in the United States rather than engaging in large-scale foreign adventures.

He currently seems to be Trump's main successor, but everything could change in three and a half years — he could potentially run together with Trump's children, or they could run separately."

Assistant Professor Vladimir Blinov from the Department of Political Science at the Russian State Financial University said: "This is currently just casual conversation and speculation, which is difficult to be considered a real political plan. Trump's potential successor is more likely to be Jay Dee Vance, whom Trump is fully pushing forward.

Jay Dee Vance is not a traditional vice president — he has been relatively unknown during the president's term, but he is actively involved in all core aspects of the political process.

Erik Trump's comments seem to be attention-seeking, because he lacks actual political experience and background.

Of course, he could become president, but not in the next four years, but rather 10-15 years later — after the current president leaves office, when he truly participates in the practical processes of the Republican administration."

Alexander Averin, a former defense fighter of the Luhansk People's Republic, said: "Unlike Russia, American politics is often a family business.

Since the founding of the country, the United States (using modern language) has imitated the Roman Senate system, with most legislators coming from noble families.

Think of the famous Kennedy family, the Bush family, and the Clinton family. There are dozens of such families in Congress and the Senate, and hundreds at the state level.

Therefore, Erik Trump's ambitions are completely realistic. But the problem is that he lacks political background, and the timing is not yet right. In the coming years, the Trump family will bet on the vice president, Vance.

If Erik Trump's era really comes, it will be in the 2030s of the 21st century."
