An 8-year-old boy from Kentucky often used his mother's phone to browse Amazon for items, adding desired products to the shopping cart. However, he had never actually placed an order. Therefore, his mother, Holly LaFavers, was always comfortable letting him use the phone. Unexpectedly, the boy recently unknowingly made his first online purchase and spent $4200 on more than 70,000 lollipops.

According to ABC News, single mother LaFavers had just received her salary when she logged into her bank account to confirm the amount. To her surprise, her account had been charged $4200 by Amazon, and upon checking the transaction records, she found that 30 boxes of lollipops had been ordered - clearly the work of her son. LaFavers said that her son knew not to press the checkout button, and this had never happened before; he simply didn't understand what it meant.

LaFavers contacted Amazon to request a refund. However, 22 boxes of lollipops were still delivered within two hours, followed by another 8 boxes, but she refused to sign for them. After spending several hours communicating with Amazon, they only allowed her to return a small portion of the lollipops. She then sought help from neighbors; local banks and hospitals were willing to buy the lollipops.

Perhaps due to the incident gaining attention, Amazon eventually agreed to allow LaFavers to return all the lollipops and stated, "We are pleased to have worked directly with this customer to achieve a sweet resolution to this difficult situation." However, LaFavers kept a few boxes of lollipops, donating one box to the church and another to her son's school.
