The world has taken a small step closer to ending the fossil fuel era, but it is still far from enough to prevent the disasters brought by climate change. From November 6 to 21, the 30th United Nations Climate Conference was held in Brazil. During the two-week meeting, the participating countries ultimately reached only a voluntary agreement, which is to start discussing a roadmap for phasing out fossil fuels, and this progress was hard-won despite the stubborn opposition of oil-producing countries. Although environmentalists were disappointed, the negotiations at least achieved some progress. Developing countries achieved some of their goals in this global negotiation: increasing the financial support provided by wealthy countries to help them adapt to the impacts of the climate crisis to three times. However, the roadmap to end deforestation was removed from the final agreement.
