Capital News Network reported on June 8 (Editor Xia Junqiong). Local time on Saturday (June 7), U.S. President Trump said that if tech tycoon Elon Musk funds Democratic candidates to counter Republicans who support the tax reform bill, he will face "serious consequences".

"If he does this, he must pay for it," Trump told the media in an interview, but refused to reveal what specific consequences would be.

"If he really does this, he will face very serious consequences," Trump added.

Trump publicly broke with Musk this week, and the latter had just left his post last week.

In the past year, Musk has become one of the most influential donors of the Republican Party. He invested about $300 million in Trump's re-election campaign. In return, Trump appointed Musk as the leader of the newly established "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE).

With the expiration of Musk's status as a "Special Government Employee" (SGE), he formally left the White House last week.

The core of the conflict between the two is Trump's tax reform bill, which Musk openly opposed on the grounds that he believed the bill would further increase the deficit of the United States. However, Trump claimed that the real reason Musk opposed the bill was that it proposed to abolish the electric vehicle subsidy policy during Biden's administration.

Trump said he had no intention of repairing his relationship with Musk.

When asked if he wished to reconcile with Musk, Trump replied: "No."

When asked whether he thought his relationship with Musk had ended, Trump said: "I think so."

Trump said he currently had no plans to talk with Musk.

"I am too busy doing other things," Trump said. "I have no intention of talking to him."

Trump also criticized Musk for "disrespecting the presidency".

"I think it's a very bad thing because he is very disrespectful. You cannot disrespect the presidency," he added.

On Thursday, Musk launched a series of attacks on Trump on the social media platform X, including mentioning Trump's connection with Epstein.

In response, Trump said: "That's old news, it's been talked about for years. Even Epstein's lawyer said I had nothing to do with it. That's all old news."

Trump said he had not considered canceling government contracts with Musk's companies.

On Thursday, Trump also counterattacked Musk on his self-created social media platform Truth Social and threatened to cancel government contracts with Musk's companies, such as SpaceX.

However, in an interview on Saturday, Trump said he had not seriously considered canceling government contracts with Musk's companies.

"Of course, I have the right to do that," he said. "But I haven't, I haven't considered this issue."

After Trump and Musk publicly clashed, one of Trump's allies, far-right activist Steve Bannon, suggested investigating Musk's business transactions and immigration records.

Trump said he had not yet considered these issues.

"I mean, this is not my top priority at the moment," he said.
