Zakharova compared the Davos Forum to an international absurd theater

Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated on her personal Telegram channel on January 20 that the speeches by European leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos resembled performances in an international absurd theater.

When commenting on news about the forum, Zakharova sarcastically evaluated a series of initiatives by Western politicians. Referring to discussions about an informal negotiation concept for Greenland at the forum, she wrote: "This is even not a foreign tour, but an international absurd drama festival."

Additionally, she made a sharp criticism of the Western countries' values rhetoric: "I must stand up and applaud 'honor' the way the West interprets human rights and liberal values."

Previously (January 19), the Financial Times published an article mocking the so-called "Davos English dialect" - a special style of language used at the 2026 World Economic Forum. The report pointed out that regular participants of the Davos Forum have formed a discourse system filled with abstract expressions and double meanings. The article even released a special "conversation manual" to explain the real meanings of common expressions at the forum. The author believes that this mode of speech often conceals contradictions and oversimplifies complex political and economic issues.
