The head of the Civil Defense Department of Hormozgan Province in Iran reported that a strong explosion occurred in a port area located in the southern city of Abbas Port in Iran.
"Just a few minutes ago, a strong explosion occurred at the Shahid Rajai Port."
The Tasnim News Agency quoted him in its Telegram channel.
The media also added that an explosion of an oil storage tank inside the port caused unknown reasons. A rapid response team has been immediately dispatched to the disaster site.
The current operation of the port has been suspended, and security forces are controlling the situation and organizing humanitarian aid.
The authorities have not yet obtained accurate information about the number of casualties. People admit that the power of the explosion "is quite large, causing significant losses."
All firefighting departments of oil companies in this region are on high alert and are ready to go to the Shahid Rajai Port for assistance at any time.
