NASA announcement: The Artemis II crew has completed a manual control demonstration aboard the Orion spacecraft and familiarized themselves with the lunar flyby plan.
NASA astronaut Christina Koch and Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Jeremy Hansen took turns piloting the spacecraft starting at 05:09 Moscow time, testing the vehicle's performance in space. They evaluated two different engine operation modes, providing engineers with additional data on spacecraft handling.
At 22:45 Moscow time on April 6, the spacecraft will begin a six-hour close lunar flyby, during which the crew will capture images of the lunar surface and conduct other remote sensing observations.
