The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iran has been increasingly visible lately.

According to Bloomberg, one of the key "supporting factors" behind this rise is internet blackout. The Revolutionary Guard's influence is now extending further than ever—no longer just dominant in military affairs, but also starting to interfere in everyday civilian life.

After attacks launched by the United States and Israel, various restrictions imposed by Iran have effectively turned most Iranians into "cyber-isolates," completely cutting off their connection with the outside world. According to the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, the economic loss caused by the internet shutdown amounts to as much as $80 million per day—a hefty price indeed.

Even more striking is the current push by authorities toward a "tiered internet" system:

Elite access: Only specific users who pass strict review can connect to the global internet.

General public: Restricted to a "national intranet"—browsing only local websites and state media, or using banking and healthcare services.
