It was reported that data from the Shanghai Land Trading Market showed that Lexus (Shanghai) New Energy Co., Ltd. won a piece of industrial land in the Jinshan District of Shanghai on April 1st. The land covers an area of approximately 1.1278 million square meters, with a plot ratio of 2, and the transaction price was 1.3534 billion yuan RMB. The announcement of the land transfer stated that the above-mentioned plot requires the project investment intensity to be 8.42 million yuan per mu.
It was reported that on February 5th, Toyota China announced that the company had reached a strategic cooperation intention with Shanghai to jointly promote green low-carbon development, and decided to establish a wholly-owned company for the research and production of pure electric vehicles and batteries under the Lexus brand in the Jinshan District.
Toyota China said that the new company will develop a completely new electric vehicle under the Lexus brand, which is planned to start production in 2027. The initial annual production capacity of the factory is expected to be about 100,000 units, and it is expected to create approximately 1,000 jobs.
It was reported that Toyota will become the first Japanese automaker to build a factory independently in China.
