President of the European Commission von der Leyen wrote today: "During the United Nations General Assembly, we had a productive meeting with US President Trump."

I thank him for his commitment to alleviating the plight of missing children in Ukraine. Europe and the US will work together to help these children return to their homes.

We exchanged views on Russia's invasion of Ukraine and agreed that it is necessary to quickly reduce Russia's income from fossil fuels.

This is exactly what Europe is currently doing through the 19th round of sanctions plan: we are increasing pressure by banning the import of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) into the European market, and targeting refineries, oil traders, and related facilities in third countries. By 2027, Europe will completely move away from dependence on Russian fossil fuels.

We also discussed a series of provocative actions by the Kremlin, including its frequent incursions into European airspace. These are clearly testing our response capabilities. Therefore, Europe is accelerating defense building to strengthen the defensive forces along the eastern border. Europe must become a 'shield' for itself and NATO.

Finally, we discussed the situation in the Middle East. Both sides agreed that the suffering of civilians must come to an end. Europe firmly supports the two-state solution and remains highly united on this issue."

Comments: In this post, von der Leyen used "consensus" as the surface main thread, but everywhere there are hidden EU interest boundaries. From the implementation rhythm of energy sanctions, to the countermeasures against third countries, and to the solutions for the Middle East issue, von der Leyen maintains the surface harmony of "transatlantic allies", while subtly drawing a red line that Europe will not be bound by US policies by detailing EU actions and emphasizing autonomous decision-making.
