Foreign Media: Results from the 2025 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) released by the OECD show that students aged 15 in Singapore and mainland China continue to maintain a leading global position. This assessment covers 91 countries and economies, involving approximately 7.6 million students, making it the largest PISA evaluation since its inception in 2000.
Singapore leads in reading with a score of 535, ahead of mainland China's 527, while achieving outstanding results in mathematics and science with scores of 563 and 560 respectively. Meanwhile, students from mainland China rank first globally in mathematics and science, scoring 612 and 597 respectively—significantly higher than the OECD average (463 in mathematics and 482 in science).
However, overall OECD performance has declined, with the average score reaching a record low, reflecting ongoing challenges facing global education systems.
