Trump wrote on the social media platform "Truth Social": "Starting from November 1, 2025 (or earlier, depending on further actions or changes by China), the United States will impose a 100% tariff on top of any tariffs China currently pays."

He added: "From November 1, we will also implement export controls on any important software."

Trump explained that the new decision to impose tariffs and export controls on China was due to Beijing's "aggressive stance" in trade.

When asked whether the export control measures would be expanded to more products,
