Vietnam is on the side of the United States in the trade war.
According to TASS citing a report from Reuters, Vietnam has taken the side of the United States in the trade war, promising to strengthen control over commodities exported through Vietnamese territory to relevant countries and tighten trade rules with related countries. According to the media report, after Washington expressed concerns about the supply of a large number of goods labeled as "Made in Vietnam" from relevant countries, Hanoi took this measure. This situation allowed these goods to avoid higher U.S. tariffs. During consultations with the U.S. side, Vietnamese authorities agreed to formulate a plan to combat transshipment of goods from relevant countries that have not undergone reprocessing in Vietnam.
It was reported that Vietnam also submitted a draft resolution to strengthen control over the export of dual-use goods to relevant countries. Specifically, semiconductors and satellite equipment were targeted. Vietnam explained that these measures are aimed at preventing unauthorized transfer of sensitive technologies to third countries.
Previously, Howard Rutte, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, met with Deputy Prime Minister Vu De Phu in Washington. Rutte stated during the meeting that the United States considers Vietnam an important partner in the region. Rutte also added that the U.S. government attaches great importance to its relationship with Vietnam, viewing it as a "large economy with great potential" and "an important partner of the United States in the region."
