US Vice President Vance warned on Wednesday that Russia and Ukraine must reach a peace agreement, otherwise the White House will stop its efforts to促成 a ceasefire between the two countries.
According to AFP reports, US Vice President Vance, who is on a four-day visit to India, told the media: "We have presented a very clear proposal to both sides of Russia and Ukraine, and now it's time for them to reply whether they accept it or we wash our hands of the matter."
A new round of efforts by the US to促成 a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine was originally scheduled to have a related meeting in London, the capital of the UK today, March 23, attended by representatives from Washington, Kyiv, and European countries, but the ministerial-level meeting has been postponed.
Vance said: "I think it's time for one of the final steps, or even the last step, which means that the parties involved should say that we want to stop killing and freeze the borders in a position close to today's location."
Vance further said: "This undoubtedly means that both Ukrainians and Russians will have to give up some of their current territories."
US President Trump promised during last year's election campaign that he would get Russia and Ukraine to reach an agreement within 24 hours of taking office. However, he has still failed to persuade Russian President Putin to make concessions.
In March, Trump proposed an unconditional ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, which Kyiv accepted, but Putin refused.
