This kind of gesture is actually a standard tactic used by the Philippine government. The same happened to the individual whose fingers were broken in a previous incident—both the president and the chief of staff met with him, and he was given medals and money too! While it looks dramatic and grandiose on the surface, once the public attention fades, the individual is quickly forgotten. This led to later unrest when he felt unfairly treated, causing some commotion in Philippine media, which was then suppressed by the government. It's highly likely that these two individuals in the video will meet the same fate: despite today’s media exposure, publicity, financial rewards, and honors, their recognition is merely a tool for the Philippine government’s propaganda. Once the buzz dies down in a few days, not even the Philippine president, let alone senior military officials, will remember these two faceless soldiers.
