Iran Destroys U.S. Air Force E-3G "Sentinel" Early Warning Aircraft

A photo circulating online shows a U.S. Air Force E-3G "Sentinel" long-range early warning aircraft severely damaged at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. From the image, the aircraft has suffered catastrophic destruction, with significant damage to both the tail section and the airframe structure.

This represents an extremely sensitive and major loss for the U.S. Air Force: the U.S. currently operates only about 16 of these aircraft, and production lines have already been shut down. Military experts point out that even the retirement of just a portion of this type of aircraft would significantly weaken America's airborne radar surveillance and operational command capabilities.

Previously, U.S. officials claimed the aircraft sustained only minor damage. However, the released photos confirm that the actual extent of the damage is severe—this aircraft has effectively been destroyed.
