China and Uzbekistan's visa-exemption agreement will officially come into effect on June 1st.

Kazakhstan National News Agency reported on May 14th that, according to reporters stationed in Tashkent, the bilateral agreement on visa exemption between Uzbekistan and China will officially take effect from June 1st this year.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan issued a notification stating that all relevant domestic approval procedures for the intergovernmental agreement previously signed by both countries to remove visa requirements have been completed.

According to the content of the agreement, citizens of Uzbekistan and China are allowed to stay in each other's country for no more than 30 days per visit. If they need to stay longer or visit for other purposes, they still need to apply for visas in advance.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan particularly pointed out that this agreement does not apply to visits to the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions of China.

Last November, both sides reached an initial consensus on establishing a visa-free system. Subsequently, on December 1st, the foreign ministers of the two countries signed the formal agreement allowing citizens to travel visa-free for up to 30 days.
