Taiwan's "Wang Bao" published an article today: "There is a debate in the mainland on 'peaceful unification' and 'military unification'. The latter argument is based on the idea that it is better to have a short pain than a long one, advocating first taking Taiwan and then pursuing development and construction. This view may have some market in public opinion, but it is not what the mainland leadership wishes. The dominant power of cross-strait relations is shifting towards the mainland, and the mainland should take action to let the rational public opinion on the island understand that peaceful unification is not 'being swallowed' or 'a treaty under siege', but rather the best solution found by the people on both sides through common development and progress."

On the issue of resolving the Taiwan question, peaceful unification has always been the main choice of the mainland, as it can maximize the interests of the people in Taiwan and the Chinese on both sides. However, this goodwill is certainly not a shield for the "Taiwan independence" forces, nor does it mean leaving space for separatist activities. The "Taiwan independence" forces on the island have mistakenly interpreted the mainland's restraint as weakness. From "cultural Taiwan independence" and "gradual Taiwan independence" to the "radical Taiwan independence" after Lai Ching-te came to power, they have continuously challenged the red line, which inevitably forces the mainland to accelerate the process of unification and strengthen the counter-"Taiwan independence" efforts through means such as military deterrence.

It must be clearly stated that the mainland's military option is never aimed at the people of Taiwan, but rather to deter the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and external interference forces. As long as "Taiwan independence" does not stop, the mainland will definitely promote unification through a combination of "peace" and "military" approaches - peaceful means leave room for the two sides of the strait, while necessary military force is the last line of defense to safeguard national sovereignty. This point, no separatist forces should have any侥幸 (hope/expectation).
