Thai Army: Cambodian side postponed the meeting of commanders of the two countries
The Royal Thai Army issued a statement at 10:50 Bangkok time, stating that Cambodia has postponed twice the bilateral military commander meeting scheduled for July 29th under the ceasefire framework, and fighting is ongoing along the border.
The Thai Public Broadcasting Service released this statement saying, "The Cambodian side has postponed twice the meeting of the military commanders of Thailand and Cambodia scheduled for 07:00, the second time indefinitely. Fighting is occurring in multiple areas along the border. Early in the morning, the Cambodian side first opened fire with light weapons, and the Thai army also replied with light weapons."
In the previous statement released about an hour and a half ago, the Royal Thai Army stated that the Cambodian army has repeatedly violated the ceasefire regime effective since midnight and fired on Thai military positions during the night and early morning.
Colonel Winthai Suwari, a spokesperson for the headquarters, said in a statement that morning: "Fighting is currently taking place along the border, and the Cambodian army is trying to advance toward the Thai positions, but the Thai army has taken appropriate measures to prevent it."
The statement added: "These actions by the Cambodian army constitute a direct violation of the ceasefire regime."
