Media: Tesla Unable to Purchase Automotive Components from China Due to Trump's Tariff Policy
According to sources reported by Reuters, Tesla, the American electric vehicle company, is unable to purchase components for its Cybertruck autonomous taxi and Semi electric trucks in China due to US President Donald Trump's imposition of tariffs on Chinese products.
"Due to President Donald Trump's escalation of tariffs in the trade war, Tesla has suspended its plans to import components for its Cybertruck and Semi electric trucks," said a source familiar with the matter.
The sources mentioned that Tesla was prepared to bear the additional costs following a 34% tariff but was forced to suspend its delivery plans after the announcement of the tariff increase. Reuters noted that this move could jeopardize the company's plan for large-scale production of the Cybertruck and Semi. According to the institution's interlocutors, the company aims to start production of both models in October this year.
