Macron said Europe should re-engage with Putin!
What a twist!
Yesterday, they were shouting for war and sending troops into Ukraine, and today they want to talk.
Macron: "I think Europe and Ukraine should find a suitable framework to restart this dialogue, which is in our interest."
The biggest uncertainty in Europe now is uncertainty itself. And their biggest uncertainty comes from Trump.
For many years, the whole of Europe never considered engaging with Putin, but when Trump bypassed them and engaged with Russia:
1. They wanted to freeze Russian assets to loan money to Ukraine, one of the purposes being to undermine Trump's mediation.
2. They also planned to send a "coalition of ten countries" into Ukraine.
But when these two plans failed, they suddenly remembered to engage with Putin again.
It's clearly because they don't want the enthusiastic Trump to reap the benefits of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Macron said this at this moment, and Trump should be the most qualified to speak:
Where have Europe been all along!
